Mission

NALIP-SA exists to meet the professional needs of the local Latino independent film community through advancement, development, and funding of Latino media in all genres.  Building upon the national mission of NALIP, we connect local filmmakers to each other and to broader audiences, help them develop relationships with other industry professionals, and facilitate the advancement of their crafts and careers.

History and Mission of the National Organization

In 1999, over 250 Latino and Latina producers, scholars and media activists met in San Francisco for the first time in over 25 years to network, promote and discuss our collective needs. The National Association of Latino Independent Producers was born from that exciting gathering.

NALIP’s mission is to promote the advancement, development and funding of Latino/Latina film and media arts in all genres.

Our primary goal is to create more images by and about Latinos everywhere you see media.  Our membership is as broad as the Latino community: veteran feature film and documentary producers, emerging and mid-career professionals, students, scholars, experimental and new media artists, media activists, performers and curators of museums and festivals.
